Background information about Pulsonix

Who produces Pulsonix?

Pulsonix is produced by WestDev Ltd, a dynamic UK based company dedicated to the development and support of high performance PCB Design and Simulation software. The marketing and development staff at WestDev have over 180 man years experience in PCB CAD and simulation software. The Pulsonix system marks the peak of this in-depth experience.

WestDev's staff are a mixture of top-flight software designers with many years experience in mainstream and leading-edge EDA (Electronic Design Automation) CAD, and support staff capable of providing a focused service to our valued customers.

Why was Pulsonix developed?

The time has come for an exciting new product. Industry experts lament the fact there are no new PCB design and layout products around. Though customers perhaps don't realise it many PCB design products on the market are still DOS based! These were developed maybe 10-15 years ago and have been systematically enhanced with Windows type interfaces and a few new features every so often. However, the basic foundation of these products is very dated and it's becoming increasingly difficult for these manufacturers to produce the key features needed by you, the customer.

This is also partly the case with some of the true Windows based products that appeared on the market during the early 90's. A number are getting tired and in need of a complete rewrite as technology has moved on. But due to the enormous overhead in rewriting a product that would occupy the existing team for 2/3 years, at the same time maintaining the existing product and adding the odd set of new features, this just doesn't happen. Slowly but surely you the customer start to suffer.

Won't this happen with Pulsonix?

Not for a very long time, and when it does we will plan ahead for the rewrite. Pulsonix has been developed using C++. The underlying architecture is object oriented, cleverly designed so that we can add new features far more easily than our competitors. We have extensive plans for new functionality within Pulsonix. Just try the demo version of Pulsonix and you see what a fresh and exciting product we have produced for you.

So, what's the plan for Pulsonix?

The Pulsonix product will grow strongly in features and functionality this year, and in the years ahead. This is functionality to both reflect the changes in PCB technology during this new century, but as important to reduce the time and workload associated with PCB design, simulation and layout. This is our company focus. We have firm plans for forthcoming releases 12 months in advance, and then more flexible plans extending 2-3 years ahead to include EDA technology changes that take place, and customer recommendations.

Are you saying the customer can influence future developments?

Emphatically yes! We welcome and actively seek customer feedback with recommendations on how we can improve both the product and the after sales service to our customers. If you invest in Pulsonix license(s) we will want to talk to you and build on your experiences with the tools.

Why should I buy Pulsonix?

Because you need a product that matches the needs of today not 1990. You need a product that both reflects your needs right now, and one that will grow strongly throughout every year of this decade and into the next, backed by a team that really values support and service. You need a product with a price/performance reflecting the current IT industry ratios for PC based software. Not the ratios of 10 years ago carried forward, as they have been by some software manufacturers.

Again, test-drive Pulsonix and check out our features. Just look at the sheer quality and performance we bring you, backed by the support structure you need to hit those ever tighter development deadlines.
