    Opening a 'window' in your solder mask/resist

    Normal solder masks are generated automatically by the application from the pads (and vias if your Layer Class allows it) in the PCB design.

    However, if you find that you need to open a 'window' in the solder mask to expose part of the bare board, for example to allow an area of copper to be used as a heatsink, this is easily achieved by adding a filled documentation shape directly onto the solder mask layer. This will then be plotted along with the other items when you produce your solder mask output.
