This tab allows you to set the default properties when using the Insert SMD Pad option in the Footprint Editor.

Setup menu > Design Settings option > Defaults > SMD Pad page

Using the SMD Pad Defaults Tab
Layer
Select a side to add the SMD Pad to. The drop down list will present you with ‘sides - <Top Side> or <Bottom Side>. If you have Layer Spans defined, you will also be presented with these.
Pad Style
Choose a suitable Pad Style for the SMD Pad from the drop down list defined in the Pad Styles dialog.
