Pulsonix includes a base Autorouter with every variant of its product range. This uses a predominantly 45-degree angle routing methodology and so produces eye pleasing results more aligned with a hand routed design rather than a mechanical autorouted result.

There is also an Advanced Autorouter available for purchase which is faster and more suitable for large boards and advanced technology users. It produces a different result to that of the standard autorouter and is more suitable for digital designs of high density.

Autorouter

The base Autorouter allows you to route the whole design, or just particular net classes.

  • Auto Router - The Auto Router dialog will be displayed enabling you to route all unfinished connections in the design, or to choose specific net classes to route. You can select the different types of routing pass and the number of passes that you want to help the router attain 100%. You can specify if you want to keep existing routing and if you want the new tracks to be fixed against further changes.
  • Browse Nets - This dialog allows you to choose which nets should be autorouted. You can also use the Selection Filter to choose a Net Class to autoroute.
  • Selected Nets - With a net or multiple nets selected in the design, these will be autorouted using the Selected Nets option.

Advanced Autorouter

The Advanced Autorouter allows you to route the whole design, selected nets or just particular nets based on their name or net class.

  • Route Whole Design - enables you to route all unfinished connections in the design. You can select the different types of routing pass and the number of passes that you want to help the router attain 100%. You can specify if you want to retain existing routing and if you want the results to be locked against further change.

The Advanced Autorouter option uses the Advanced Router dialog to setup up the rules before routing.

  • Routing Individual Nets - You can route individual nets or specific sets of nets. This can be done in two different ways.

    • Select the Tools menu and Advanced Router. Click Browse Nets. You can select the nets that you want routed from a list. This can also be restricted by net class.

    • Select connections or components using the selection method. Then select the Tools menu and Advanced Router. Click Selected Nets. The router will be invoked and will only consider the nets that are selected

In both these ways the existing routing that has not been selected will be regarded as obstacles.
