Using the Hatch Styles dialog

On selection, the Technology dialog opens, select Hatch Styles. The existing Hatch Styles for the Technology being used will be presented.

In the grid, the Y before the hatch style Name shows that the style is used in the design. The used status is also indicated for the selected style in the editing pane with the Used box showing a ‘tick’.

The buttons to the right side of the dialog are used to navigate the grid, these are detailed on the Technology Navigation page.

Use the Merge button to access the Merge Styles page from where you can merge selected styles.

Using the editing pane

Name

The Name of the style. It is recommended that a meaningful name is used, one that suitably describes the style when you choose it from a list in the design at time of use.

Named by

When New is used the initial style being added is taken from one of three states using the Named by: radio buttons.

Typed - the style has an explicit name.

Rule - this will use the rule defined in the Technology Hatch Style Naming rules dialog. The name of the style is derived using the first matching rule, this is displayed in the greyed box below it. Once an item is defined as using a rule, if the rule then changes, it will change the style name.

Template - you can define the template explicitly for this style, you can use any of the fields available for Hatch Style Naming.

Once the name has been entered, other properties on this page define the overall look and shape of the hatched area:

Hatch Types

You can choose between two different types of hatching, either using Lines or Circles. Each type comes with it’s own settings you can modify, but there are also universal settings that affect both types.

Lines

Draws lines across the shape, line specific settings are:

The Cross Hatched check box is used to make it hatched in both directions to create a cross hatch.

Width (%) gives hatch line width in terms of percentage of shape line style width. Must be greater than 0 and less than or equal to 100%.

Circles

Draws a filled shape with circle cutouts in it, the only circle specific setting is:

The Radius is the radius of each circle cutout. Setting the radius too small will result in the hatch being fully filled.

Universal Settings

Applies to the hatch style regardless which type is selected.

The Coverage (%) meaning the percentage of copper that will be in the copper filled area using this style. A 50% coverage would give you an equal copper/space ratio.

The Angle of the hatch pattern in degrees.

Offset (%) gives the offset of the hatch style, given as a percentage of the line/circle separation. Must be between 0 and 100%.

As the hatch style is edited, the preview is updated automatically to show the style.
