This dialog is used when when you are importing Protel or Altium Designer PCB designs. It enables to change the default name that you want the imported design to be called. You can also choose to use a technology file to base the design upon.
Altium Import
For more detailed information on how to import Altium files and what is required, please refer to the Altium Interface help page.
Protel Import
For more detailed information on how to import Protel files and what is required, please refer to the Protel Interface help page.
Using the Import dialog
Design
This is the name that will be used as the basis of the filename when you save the design.
Technology
This drop down list can be used to choose a Technology file to base the imported design on. You can select [None] to specify no Technology. This means the design will be a direct import of everything in the ASCII file being imported.
Use Layer Mapping
If you have selected a Technology you can use check Use Layer Mapping which will allow you to map the other EDA system layers to the Pulsonix layers specified in the Technology file. If this is checked then Layer Mapping will be activated before the import starts.
Import No Net Tracks As Copper
Check this box if you want TRACK records from the Altium Designer/Protel design which have no net associated with them to be treated as free copper. Otherwise they will be imported as tracks and each sub net will be treated as a default net (this will only be needed for older Protel designs).
Repour Templates
Check this box if you want the Template based copper from the Altium Designer/Protel design to be thrown away and the templates to be repoured. In Protel the filled templates have each line of copper as a single segment shape. The post import tidy of the imported design can take a long time because of this.
Auto Weld Tracks
Sometimes when tracks are imported they do not always exactly start or end at an appropriate connect point. Check Auto Weld Tracks to try and force them to start or end on a connect point.
