How to Use This Dialog

The dialog is divided into two sections. The left-hand section shows the footprints found in the footprint libraries, and the right-hand section shows the footprints currently listed in the part.

A filter is provided to allow the footprints shown in the library list to be restricted by entering a wildcard value for footprint name. The pin count is defaulted to show only footprints that have the defined number of pins for the part. If the part’s pin count is as yet undefined, footprints with any number of pins are shown and the part’s pin count will be taken from the selected footprint(s). All footprints referenced by any one part must have the same number of pins.

To add a footprint to the part, select the required item in the left-hand list and press Add. Alternatively, double-click on the item in the left-hand list.

To remove a footprint from the part, select it in the right-hand list and press Delete or double-click on the item in the right-hand list.

Footprint Order

The order of footprints in the right-hand list is important. The first item in the list is the default footprint that will be used when adding this part as a component in a PCB design.

Vault

If the Vault is in use, the Vault section, displayed below the right-hand list of footprints, will show the vault item ID and Revision for the currently selected footprint. By default, Revision shows the , but other versions may be selected by choosing from the drop-down list. If a footprint from the In Part list is selected, the vault revision shown is the one currently referenced by the part. An alternative can be chosen using the drop-down list.

A footprint that is not from the vault, will be shown as such in the ID field.
