The library toolkit allows you to create library items (Schematic Symbols, PCB Footprints and Parts) in an ASCII format, and import them into your libraries to create new items or modify existing items. For example, export Parts from a library, update their attributes, and import them back in to make modifications.

You may even use this mechanism to update Part attributes regularly with new price information. There are many possibilities available.

To accommodate the import of the library items, there are three files to use, one for each format; .pgf (for Parts) .fgf (for Footprints) and .sgf (for Schematic Symbols).
