Segment mode controls the angle of the segment in manual routing. There are a number of modes to choose from:
Modes Of Operation
- Free Angled - any angle
- Orthogonal - 90 degree mode always fixes the line segments perfectly horizontal or vertical depending on the direction of edit.
- Orthogonal (Mitre) - Same as Orthogonal but with a mitre segment replacing each 90 degree corner.
- Orthogonal (Fillet) - Same as Orthogonal but with a fillet segment replacing each 90 degree corner.
- 45 Angled - 45 degree mode. Always snaps to 45 degrees and keeps the line being edited at a 45 degree increment.
- 45 Angled (Fillet) - Same as 45 Angled but with a fillet segment replacing each 45 degree corner.
- Curved - Same as 45 Angled but with a curved segment replacing each 45 degree line.
- Pull Tight Track Use this special mode to produce a minimum length track using alternate 45 and orthogonal angle track segments. It will automatically introduce corners only when it needs them to wrap around obstacles. This mode is extremely effective for quickly adding tracks through dense pin arrays.
- Restricted Movement - Use this special mode if you want to restrict the addition of the next shape segment to a fixed angle or length.
How To Change The Segment Mode
- Segment mode is normally changed when editing a segment and choosing the option by clicking the right mouse button and selecting Segment Mode from the context menu, and the mode required.
- You can also pre-select a mode from the Tools menu and Options. Then select the Edit Track or Edit Shape tab.
- The appropriate Options page will open and under Segment Mode you can select the mode required to be used when editing tracks and shapes in the future.
