Use the Paste option to recall text or design items from the clipboard. Items would have previously been added to the clipboard using standard Windows options; Cut or Copy.
Text can be stored in the clipboard from a Pulsonix design, or from another application which can add text to the clipboard e.g. Notepad.
Design information can only be recalled if saved from a Pulsonix design but can be from different designs.
Shortcuts
Default Keys: Ctrl+V
Default Menu: Edit
Command: Paste
Resolve Net Names
The Resolve Net Names dialog is displayed during a Paste or Duplicate operation, when the data you are adding to the design contains named nets that already exist in the design. The dialog allows you to choose which nets are to be connected to those already present, and which are to be renamed so that they do not join existing nets.
Note that if a single component, with no other items, was copied, then no connectivity is copied. Therefore when pasted, there will be no nets to resolve unless the pins have predefined signal names.
Resolve Group Names
Groups will be retained in the pasted data only if all items in the group are included on the clipboard. The pasted group name will be incremented if the design already has a group with that name.
Positioning the Pasted Items
After pasting the items you will enter Move mode with the pasted items attached to the moving cursor. The delta coordinates on the status bar will show the position relative to the original position of the pasted data. Use left click to position the items in the required place, or use the Cancel Move option from the shortcut menu to return the items to their original position when they were copied to the clipboard.
Pasting different shape types
If you copy any shape (including a track) to the clipboard, you can paste this as a different type by first going into the relevant Insert function and then invoking Paste. For example, to make a copy of a Copper shape as a Doc shape, first select the Copper and do Copy, then invoke the Insert Doc Polygon command and do Paste. The new Doc shape will be presented on the cursor for you to place, or invoke Cancel Move from the context menu to drop the shape in exactly the same place as the Copper. Note that the current settings for the Insert command (e.g. closed or filled settings) will be obeyed as closely as possible depending on the type of shape being copied or added. Areas and Templates for example are always closed.
Using Type Offset during move allows you to easily place the new data at an offset to its original position, and using Type Rotate during the move phase of the paste operation allows you to rotate the new data about a specific point by an angle relative to the original position.
Pasting a Cutout
If you copied a single cutout with the “Copy Single Cutout As Shape” Interactive option set, you can paste this as a cutout by preselecting the target shape or another cutout associated with the target shape. The pasted cutout will be added as a cutout to the selected shape.
