The Schematic Technology file is a file containing design items required in the ‘make-up’ of the design, e.g. terminal type, Colours, line styles, text styles, net classes etc.
Technology files can be used when creating a new item to provide a default set of properties from an existing file or those required to start a design based on given parameters. These files might be created based on the a customers sizing guide for text or line thicknesses, or could be based on the initial colour set required by one designer or another, e.g. whether black and white colour schemes are used or whether full colour is required. Alternatively an initial design can be created using a core technology and Partial Technology files can then be used in Load Technology to add technology elements to the design to prepare it for different manufacturing technologies. For example, to add smaller spacings and tighter rules for fine line routing.
What Do Schematic Technology Files Consist Of?
The entities which make up the technology are:
- Spacing Rules
- Styles
- Nets
- Rules - DFM/DFT
- Rules - High Speed
- Design
- Setup
- Design Level Attributes
