How to Change Test Point
Whilst in Select Mode or Edit Mode, select a Testpoint Pad, Component Pad, Symbol Pin, Mounting Hole or Via. Right click the mouse to show the shortcut menu and select the Change Testpoint option from it. The following dialog will be displayed:-
Testpoint Check Box
This is only visible if the selected item is not a Testpoint Pad. Items that were added using Insert Testpoint are always testpoints and so this switch is not needed.
Use this on a component pad, for example, to make it testable. Uncheck the switch to make the pad not testable.
Testpoint Name
If the item is a testpoint, or designated as testable, use this field to change it’s automatically allocated testpoint name. This name must be unique within the design and you will be warned if you try to apply an already used name.
The stem that is used when allocating a unique name, TP in our example, is taken from the Testpoint Defaults in Design Settings (found on the Setup menu)..
Probe Side
This is only available in PCB designs. It states what side of the board this item can be tested from.
It is normally set to the system probe side found in the Testpoint Rules in the design’s Technology data, and cannot be changed. The only time it can be changed is if the DFM Rules probe side is set to All, and the selected item reaches both sides of the board. In this case you can choose between Top, Bottom or All. All means the item can be tested from either side of the board.
Locked against automatic removal
When checked, this checkbox prevents the Automatic Testpoint Insertion tool from removing this testpoint.
Make component a testpoint part
This checkbox is available when the selected component has a single pin, but was not added as a testpoint part. Check the box to make it a testpoint component. A testpoint component, like those added through the Add Testpoint option, ensures the testpoint name and component name are kept the same.
