How To Show/Hide Net Names
- In a schematics design, select an item on a net using Select Mode, then select Show Net Name from the Utilities menu.
- Select an item on a net using Select Mode or Edit Mode, click the right mouse button and select the Show Net Name or Hide Net Name command from the shortcut menu.
- With nothing selected, use the Show Net Name option from the schematics Utilities menu. This will enter the option in Latched Mode allowing you to show and hide net names by simply picking items. In this mode the cursor will be changed to a modal cursor for the duration of its use.
Labelling All Sub nets
It is a good idea to ensure that every sub net of a user named net has at least one Net Name showing, or contains at least one signal reference documentation symbol with a predefined net type or name.
You can automatically add any missing labels using Show All Net Names or using Apply To All when using Show Net Name with nothing selected. Any sub nets of user named nets that did not have a label will have their net name displayed. This option applies across all pages of the design. All new net names shown will be left highlighted to enable you to find them and reposition if required.
Note: You can check for missing net names on these sub nets using the Unlabelled Sub nets option in the Electrical Rules Checker.
Using Text Callouts
An alternative way of displaying a net name on an item is to attach a text callout to it and set the callout text to have the net name attribute substituted into it. You can then hide the callout pointer symbol and line to the item the callout is attached to. This will result in a net name surrounded by a box.
