Use this to view all the design error makers in a sorted list. This list is displayed in an ‘active’ browser which, by using a double-click, can be used to locate the error maker in the design. This browser can be un-docked as a modeless dialog or docked as part of the Pulsonix framework. Use the right hand mouse button to make this selection.

The browser is categorised in order of rank starting with Design (DRC errors), then Layer, then Error type, then the Marker itself.

Prerequisites For Using This Browser

A Design Rules Check must be run first to create the error markers.

Using This Browser

The browser can be invoked from either the View menu or from the Dockable Views toolbar or by right clicking on the furniture.

[+] [-] Boxes Clicking on the small box on the error market tree will expand or contract the list. This will help focus on the error markers most interested in. The box showing a [+] indicates that it can be expanded to show more information, the [-] sign is used to contract the contents.

Notes and multi-line Notes for locked errors are shown in Green under the error in the DRC Errors Bar.

DRC Error Markers are displayed with a check box next to them, this indicates that they can be selected. You can select multiple errors, this allows you to perform additional operations on them, such as Locking, Unlocking or Deleting.

Main Browser Window

DRC Errors This level indicates the number of design rule errors found the last time the DRC option was run. If no design rules errors are found or the option has not been run the words are displayed, this does not automatically mean there are no errors! Run the DRC option if unsure.

DRC Error Markers are displayed with a check box next to them, this indicates that they can be selected. You can select multiple errors, this allows you to perform additional operations on them, such as Locking, Unlocking or Deleting.

Locked Errors The first error markers displayed in the list will be Locked Errors if any have been locked in your design. An error marker can be locked (using Properties) so that it cannot be deleted. If the locked error marker contains a Note in the design, this will also be displayed under the locked error marker.

Layer This level shows the layers for which the error marker resides. These are ranked from layers, down through the design from Top to Bottom. Layers with no error markers are not displayed in the list.

Error Type This level shows the types of errors found on the layer. All error markers are grouped together by error type. The full marker description and the short form code, as displayed in the design, are shown.

Location This shows the actual location of the error marker as an X, Y coordinate in the current Units. Double-click on this entry to locate the error marker in the design. The error maker will be redrawn in the centre of the design at the current zoom level and is highlighted in the highlight colour.

Using the Context Menu

By right clicking in the browser window, you can select additional options from the context menu:

Floating and Docking Use these selections to allow the dialog to be Floating regardless of where it is positioned, or to be Docking so that if the browser is moved over the framework it will assume a docked position.

Tabbed Document is not used in this browser and will be greyed out as unavailable.

Auto Hide use this to enable the browser to be hidden automatically when the not in focus or when the cursor is moved out of it.

Hide Click this to hide the browser window. To view the browser, use a shortcut key or select the browser required from the View menu.

Find Error Use this to locate the error selected in the list. This has the same effect as a double-click of the left mouse button over the error marker coordinates. The error marker will be located by altering the view to include it and then either selecting it, highlighting it, brighten it (dim all other items) or flashing it. The find action depends on the current Find Options.

Delete Error Use this to manually delete an error marker from the list and remove the marker from the design. This can be done after the error has been resolved in the design and helps with clarity when moving on to other errors. It does not delete the error from the design!

Lock/Unlock Error Use this to Lock or Unlock the selected error marker. This is normally used to mark an error which is considered acceptable and which does not need checking again.

Clear All Errors Use this to clear all the error markers in the design. This does not clear the errors, only the markers created from running the DRC option.

Flash All Errors Use this to flash all errors of the same category and code. The period the item flashes for is set using the Find Options dialog.

Fully Expand Bar Use this to expand all the errors in the bar so they are visible.

Design Rules Check Use this to run or rerun the Design Rules Check option.

DRC Errors Report Use this to report the DRC error marker list as currently shown in the DRC Error browser bar. This does not run the DRC option again but reports the list displayed. This would be used to get a printed copy quickly of the error markers without running the option again.

Toggle Sort Order Errors may be sorted by type then layer, or by layer then type. This option will toggle between these sort orders.
