There are seven types of libraries which can be used with Pulsonix.

  • Parts libraries - a definition which contains a Part name used by both Schematic and PCB designs.
  • Schematic Symbols - a Schematic symbol or gate which is used in the Schematic editor when loaded by the Part.
  • PCB Footprint - a PCB symbol definition representing a footprint for use in the PCB design editor when loaded by a Part.
  • Schematic Documentation Symbol - a Schematics only symbol which does not use a Part definition. Would be used for items such as page blanks etc.
  • PCB Documentation Symbol - a PCB only symbol which does not use a Part definition. Would be used for items such as page borders or non-electrical shape items etc.
  • 3D Package - a 3D package is an alternative to a STEP model and defines how a PCB footprint is represented in the 3D Preview of your PCB designs.
  • STEP Model - a STEP model is used to represent how PCB footprints are viewed in the STEP format mechanical 3D output from your PCB designs.

How To Get To The Libraries Manager

All the libraries can be managed from the Library Manager. There are also a Part Wizard, Footprint Wizard and Symbol Wizards located on the File menu, New option to help you generate complex Parts, Footprints and Schematic Symbols.

How To Load Parts And Doc Symbols

Once Parts and their associated symbols/footprints have been created, you should load them from the Insert menu using the Insert Component option. This option is used for both Schematic and PCB Parts.

Documentation symbols can be inserted into the design using the Insert menu and the Insert Doc Symbol option. This option is used for both Schematic and PCB documentation symbols.
