How To Edit A Component’s Part

Whilst in Select Mode or Edit Mode, select the required component and right click the mouse and use Edit Part In Library from the shortcut menu.

The system will look for the part with the same name as the part used by the selected component in the available part libraries. These libraries are defined using the Library Folders facility. If the part is found it is read from the library and opened for you to edit. If the part is not found you can use the Save Items To Librarydialog to save it before editing.

This is just the same as if you used the Library Manager to edit the part. The technology file used for the part will be the current selected technology file from the library manager parts dialog.

How To Apply Changes Made To The Part

When you have altered the part, save it back into the library using Save To Library.

Switch back to the PCB or schematics design window that contains the selected component. Right click the mouse to show the shortcut menu and use the Reload From Library option to load the changed part into the design.

Note: All components in the design that use this part name will be updated.

You cannot have different versions of the same named part within a design.
