Check into Vault is used when items need to be booked back into the Vault system.

Shortcuts

Default Keys:

Default Menu: File - Check Into Vault

Command: Check Into Vault

With any type of Pulsonix file open, choose Check Into Vault to post to the Vault an item that has previously been Checked Out, or one that does not yet exist in your Vault.

Name

The name of the item can be modified if you wish, the default setting is the name of the design or library item you are checking in. If the item has Vault information already, this is displayed for reference.

Vault Folder

Use the Browse button to choose a Vault folder in which the item is to be stored.

Description

Enter a description in the Check In Note box, and check or uncheck the Close item after Check In and Remove item from local folder after Check In check boxes depending on what you want to do with the design after it has been checked in.

Check In as replacement for existing vault item

Occasionally, the situation may arise where you have a replacement version of a design that came from a source other than the vault. Checking the Check In as replacement for existing vault item option allows such a design to be integrated into vault, superseding the previous version of the design. On completing the rest of the dialog choices and clicking OK, an additional dialog will be displayed allowing you to specify the vault design for which the check in design is a Replacement version.

Revisions

The application will calculate the next revision (or the first one, for an item being checked in for the first time). If you wish to override this calculated revision, then uncheck the Default Next Vault Revision check box. On completing the rest of the dialog choices and clicking OK, an additional dialog will be displayed allowing you to choose a Revision Name.

After Check in

Close item after Check In

Once the Check In is successful, if you have ticked the Close item after Check In check box then your checked in design or library item will be closed. If this check box is not ticked, then the item will remain open as a copy of the checked in item.

Remove item from local folder after Check In

If you have ticked the Remove item from local folder after Check In check box then your checked in item will be removed from your local file system and will only exist as a vault item. If this check box is not ticked, then the item will remain in your local file system as well as in the vault. Note that if you subsequently save the checked in item to your local file system it will be a copy of the vault item and will contain the latest vault reference information.

Dealing with errors

Depending on the rules for how items are to be cross-referenced on Check In, you may encounter errors when attempting to Check In an item, particularly if you are doing this for the first time. All the errors should be listed in a report that allows you to see what issues need to be resolved before the item can be successfully checked in.

Below is an example of the type of error you might encounter when trying to check in a design file:

PCB Design 'T404 Engine Monitor' references Part 'Rod Antenna 40mm X 12mm' which is not in the vault
PCB Design 'T404 Engine Monitor' references Part '10-Way' which is not in the vault
PCB Design 'T404 Engine Monitor' references Part 'AM11DP-ST01' which is not in the vault

Depending on what type of errors are displayed, you may need to add missing library items to your Vault, or possibly use Library to update your design with Vault based library data.
