How To Change A Device Spice Value

Select the Component(s) that you wish to change. If multiple components are selected they must all be the same Spice type e.g. Bias Marker.

Press F7 or use the Edit Spice Value/Model option from the Simulation menu, or from the shortcut menu.

The following dialogs will be displayed dependent on Spice Type:

Device Type - Arbitrary Source

Built-in Spice Functions - Bias Marker, Digital Delay, Digital Frequency Divider, Initial Condition and Nodeset

Non-Linear Passive Devices

These parts are implemented by using Functional Modelling.

They represent a component which looks exactly like its linear counterpart. The difference is that when you try and edit its value with F7 you will be prompted to enter an expression. In the case of the resistor and capacitor, this relates its value to the applied voltage and for inductor the expression relates its inductance to its current. For resistors and capacitors, the terminal voltage is referred in the equation as “V(N1)” and for inductors the device’s current is referred to as “I(V1)“.

They have their Spice Type Built-in Function set as follows:

Built-in Spice Function - Non-Linear Capacitor

Built-in Spice Function - Non-Linear Inductor

Built-in Spice Function - Non-Linear Resistor
