Each design has a set of ‘rules’ and styles that are called the ‘Technology’ for the design. The Technology will define, for example, the layers present in a PCB design, or the thickness of the line styles for use in a Schematic drawing. Once defined, this information can be saved to a Technology File using the Save Technology option to allow it to be used as the basis for other designs. The use of Technologies and Technology files is more fully explained in Technology Files.
Use the Technology dialog for creating, viewing and updating all aspects of the technology information in the current design. The information set up in this dialog is saved as an integral part of the design. If you wish to use the same technology information for other designs, use the Save Technology option to create a new Technology file.
The File - New command can also be used to create a new Technology file and the File - Open command can be used to edit an existing Technology file.

Using the dialog
In general, each technology page has a grid (rules) at the top of the dialog and an editing pane at the bottom of the dialog. The Pad Styles dialog is show below as an example:
The ‘current’ row
The grid lists each technology item on a separate row. The currently selected row is underlined in red.
You can edit a cell value in the grid by clicking on it, then typing, or you can select the row and edit values in the edit pane.
Some cells have a right mouse button context menu which enables you to do further actions. These are described on the Navigation Buttons page.
New button - overview
The New button will create a new row entry in the grid, in some cases, the default values are copied from the currently selected item.
The Delete button will delete the currently selected row item. You cannot delete an item if it is used (indicated by a Y in the first column). In some cases you can disable an entry without deleting it.
These buttons are described in more detail on the Navigation Buttons page.
