Vault - Copy Out Design Item

The Copy Out dialog for design items is accessed using the Copy Out button in the Vault Browser, a page on the Vault Manager dialog.

Select one or more items from your design content and click Copy Out.

Vault Item information

Vault information for the selected item is displayed in the upper part of the dialog. This may be displayed as if you have chosen more than one item to be copied out.

Revision

This shows which vault version of the item is to be copied out and by default will always show the . Other versions may be selected by choosing from the drop-down list. It will be unavailable if more than one item has been selected.

Open For Edit

Check this box to have the copied out design item opened in the application once the OK button is clicked.

Note that while it is possible to edit an copied out design item that is opened in the application and save it to the file system, it can not be checked back into the vault as it has not been checked out.

Copy as New Item (Disconnect from Vault)

Checking this option removes a design item’s vault reference information as it is copied out. This allows the item to be subsequently added back to the vault as a completely new item, rather than as a new version of the original item. When it is checked in it will be allocated a new Vault Item ID which will distinguish it from the original and will also need to have its name changed as the Vault does not allow duplicate named items.

Using the Mirror Vault Folder

If you leave Open For Edit unchecked, you can still access the copied out item later on by locating it in the Mirror Vault Folder structure in your own file system.
