The Pad Track Neck Rules dialog is used for Pad Auto Necking option. This rules defines the width of the necked segment as a percentage of the pad size, and the minimum length of the necked segment.

The Pad Auto Necking option is enabled from the Options, Edit Track dialog.

Locating this option

Available from: Setup menu > Technology option > Rules - DFM/DFT - Pad Track Neck page

Using the Pad Track Neck Rules dialog

On selection, the Technology dialog opens, select Pad Track Neck Rules. The existing Pad Track Neck Rules for the Technology being used will be presented.

The buttons to the right side of the dialog are used to navigate the grid, the general common buttons are detailed on the Technology Navigation page.

Using the editing pane

The appropriate Pad Track Neck rule is found for each net item by working down the list of rules until the first match is found. Hence, the order of the rules is important. A match is when the specified Attribute Name and Match Value match attributes of a net item. So the Pad Track Neck rule must have the given attribute, and it’s value must wildcard match the value.

Pad Track Percentage

The Pad Track Percentage defines the width difference between the track and the pad. For example, if the Pad Track Percentage is 80 then the necked track width will be 80% of the width of the pad.

Min Length

Min Length defines the length of the necked segment.

Global Pad Track Neck Rules

Always Create Style With Correct Width

If the calculated width of the necked track does not match a style currently in the design, a new track style will be created.

If this option in unchecked, when the track style is created a confirmation dialog will appear to confirm if you want to add the track style to the design. Pad necking requires this new track style, so if the style is not added to the design necking will not occur.

If this option is checked, when the track style is created no confirmation dialog will appear. The track style will be added to the design without warning.

Export and Import CSV

Use the Export CSV button to export the data in your PCB design into a CSV format file. Using the Export CSV option will provide you with a formatted template ready for you to edit in your own data.

Use the Import CSV button to import data back into the PCB design using a CSV format file.

The data in the file represents a spreadsheet of dialog contents with the data headings along the top row.

Units

The Units button allows you to locally switch between Metric and Imperial units whilst in this dialog. Once the dialog is closed, the units revert back to the original design units. If switching to different units to the design units, the value typed will be converted when you next enter this page.
