Using Dimension Tolerance Properties Dialog

Select any part of a dimension (or several dimensions) and enter properties. Choose the Tolerance tab and the following dialog is shown:

If the dimension is locked, none of the following values can be changed. To unlock, switch to the Dimension tab, unlock the dimension and return to the Arrows tab.

Tolerance Text

Enter the multi-line text that you want displayed at the end of the dimension text. This feature is provided to represent the dimension measurement tolerance, but can be used for other reasons as it is simply a text string appended to the dimension text.

If entering a two line tolerance string with a different value for plus and minus tolerances you should change the Tolerance Text Style to use a size that is half the height of the main dimension text height. If the plus and minus value is the same, use the “Insert +/-” button to include the special plus over minus character at the start of the tolerance text.

Use Load Default to revert the tolerance text back to the default defined in the Dimension Units Defaults.

Tolerance Text Style

Use this section to define the size and font for the tolerance text at the end of the dimension text.

You can select an existing Text Style from the drop-down list of names. These styles have previously been defined in the Technology.

Alternatively, you can change the Text Size or Font to the required values, in this case a matching Text Style may be found in the technology and its name will be selected in the drop-down list. If no matching style exists, the Name field is left blank, for you to fill in a new style name.

Text Size

Text sizes can be expressed in the current design units or in Points (Points are the units used in printing and equal 1/72 inches). Use the Points check box to toggle between the units.

The Height field gives the nominal height of the characters. The actual height of the characters may be smaller than this size, depending on the font, and does not include interline spacing.

The Line Width only applies to the and gives the thickness of the strokes when the characters are drawn.

Font

The font drop-down list shows all the true-type fonts currently available on your system. Hardware and non-scaleable fonts are not included. See your system documentation for more information on availability of fonts.

There is also the default which is built into the application.

The Underline check box specifies if the text is to be underlined. All text with this style is underlined, underline and non-underline text cannot be mixed in the same string.
