Using Dimension Arrows Properties Dialog

Select any part of a dimension (or several dimensions) and enter Properties. Choose the Arrows tab and the following dialog is shown:

If the dimension is locked, none of the following values can be changed. To unlock, switch to the Dimension tab, unlock the dimension and return to the Arrows tab.

Text Gap

When the dimension text overlaps the dimension arrow, you can use this to provide a gap around the text box so that the arrow does not touch the text.

Arrows Offset

Only applies to linear dimensions. This shows you the distance of the dimension arrows away from the point you are measuring. Type a value to alter this offset.

Filled Arrow Heads

Use this to choose between filled triangular arrow heads and open V-shaped arrow heads.

Force Point Inwards

Use this to force the arrows to be positioned outside the outer edges of the dimension, pointing inwards. Left unchecked, the arrows will be positioned within the dimension, pointing outwards. This is the normal mode of operation, but the arrows will flip the other way if the text does not also fit within the dimension.

Arrow Head Size

You can now specify the dimension arrow size by providing a width and length multiplier. The arrow line width is multiplied by these values to give the arrow head size. If the values are zero, no arrow heads will be drawn.

Arrow Line Style

Choose the required line style for the arrow from the list of line styles already defined in the design. These can be altered using the Technology option from the setup menu. The width for the selected style will be shown in the edit box.

If you do not know the name of the style then type the required line width in the width edit box. The style that matches the typed line width will be selected from the list. If no line style in the design matches the typed width then the line style name box will be left blank. Type the new name for the line style, or leave blank for the system to assign a default name for you.

Dimension arrows can be drawn dotted or dashed by selecting a style with the appropriate pattern defined.

Directional Arrows

When Directional Arrows are used in the design, an additional check box Show Directional Dimension Arrows is displayed on this dialog. Checking this box off will remove the dimension start ‘dot’.
