This dialog allows you to modify properties for the selected Board 3D Origin. This is used as a reference point for aligning boards in the 3D View.

A Board Origin is added using the Insert Board Origin command.

Using the Board Origin Dialog

The following Properties - Board Origin dialog is displayed:

Name

The Name is used to match this origin with one of the same name on another board. The naming of your ‘pair’ of origins provides the link between your moving and static boards.

You are not limited to just two origins of the same name; you could define one origin on the static board a nd one on each of several moving boards, to make all the moving boards use the same reference point on the static board for their initial alignment.

Offsets and Rotations

By default when the 3D view is folded, the boards are aligned purely by their origins. Usually you would want to displace the moving board relative to the static one, for example to turn the moving board over and ‘hover’ above the static one. By defining X, Y and Z values, you can specify how far and in which directions the moving board needs to be shifted and/or rotated after it has initially been placed based on the alignment of the origins. All numbers are defined in the current design Units.

The Increment entry allows you to changes the ‘step’ that is applied when you click one of the spinners for X, Y or Z. This provides a more efficient way for you to state that you want to step in increments of say 0.5 instead of whatever value we choose. Most spinners used are for integers so it is easy to step up/down by 1, but these are floating point numbers so the preferred step could be just about any number.

Note: when viewing Properties for a static board origin, only the Name is available to be changed as the offset and rotation values are not used.
