Use this to reposition a corner of a Design Shape, PCB Track or Schematics Connection.

This is a special mode that forms part of the Move mode. Move Corner is entered when moving (or dragging) the corner on one of the above mentioned shapes.

How To Move A Shape Corner

This option is available when using Select Mode or Edit Mode.

  1. Use the mouse to drag a corner of the shape, or pre-select the shape corner (a small circle will be drawn over it) and use the Move option from the shortcut menu.
  2. A dynamic small circle will appear over the corner to show that it has been selected. Using the cursor you may drag or move the corner to the desired position.
  3. Right click the mouse to use the shortcut menu to access the move corner options:
    • Free Angle Adjoining Segments - Use this to move the segments that attach to the moving corner when in Free Angle mode. The attached segments’ ‘other’ corner is anchored, and the segment changes to Any Angle so that it is still fixed to the moving corner.

Uncheck this option to let the system analyse the attached segments and move them in keeping with the segment mode they match. This keeps the segments as much as possible to their original pattern.

You can go straight into Free Angle mode by holding down the key before you start moving the corner.

    • If editing a PCB design, and the shape or track is on an electrical layer, use the shortcut menu options:

Online DRC - to stop the attached segments from getting too close to other electrical items.

Display Clearance - to show a visible indicator when you are getting close to other electrical items.

    • Change Grid - Use this to force the moving corner onto a chosen grid, to change the grid’s step or to toggle the display of the grid.

  4. Left click when the corner is in the required position to complete the move.

Auto Weld

Use Auto Weld to attach a moving PCB track or Schematic connection corner to a static pad or track in the design. This is enabled on the Options dialog

To do this use the Auto Weld On Drop mode which performs the welding after completing the move. The On Drop mode must have been enabled in the Options dialog.

Auto Weld will join a track corner to a pin provided they are on the same net, or the pin is not on a named net. They must align in order to be welded.

There are two more Auto Weld options. The first is Allow Weld To Split Tracks. Enable this to allow moving track ends to be joined to the middle of a static track segment it is dropped over.

The second option is Show Weld Spots. Enable this to display spots of colour where a moving corner will attempt to weld to the item it is over if Auto Weld is performed. There are two highlight colours that can be set up for this purpose, one when the items are close enough to weld, and another to indicate they are directly over each other, thus not involving any track reworking.

Delta Coordinates

Values for “dx” and “dy” are shown on the status bar to give the offset from the original corner position. You can use the command Reset Delta Coords to reset the “dx” and “dy” values on the status bar to be (0,0) at the current moving corner position. This command will need to be put on a key using customise to use it.
