There are different methods to placing the design depending on your requirements:

Manually, placing components by ‘hand’ in PCB

For full details on placing the design manually go to Manual Placement

Automatically, using the autoplace tool

For full details on Autoplace go to How to use Autoplace

Using the Apply Layout Pattern option

This option allows you to place all or part of a PCB design using an existing portion of the current design or from an external Pulsonix PCB design as reference. For full details on this option go Apply Layout Pattern.

Using the Place Around Board option

This option allows you to place your components around the board outline. You might do this as an alternative method to placing components from the component or to organise them after using the Translate to PCB option. For full details on this option go Place Around Board

Placing from the Component Bin

Components that are placed into the Component Bin can be manually or automatically placed into the design using one of the method details above. For full details on this option go Component Bin

Placing from the Insert Component option

Components that are selected using the Insert component dialog can be added to the design using the Add button and manually placed, or can be added directly to the Component Bin using the check box, ready for placement at a later stage. For full details on this option go Insert PCB Component

Placing from the Database (PDC)

Components that are selected using the Database Connection (PDC) cost option are manually placed in the design. For full details on this option go Database Connection (PDC)

Placing the PCB from the Schematic using Cross Probe

Components within the PCB design can be placed using one of the ‘latched’ placement methods and the Cross Probing option.
