Categories
As well as menus, application names and general tool features, there are also additional Categories to make selection of the tool required easier. These appear in alphabetical order within the Categories list.
The Doc Symbols category contains a list of documentation symbol command icons that you can drag onto a PCB or Schematic toolbar. Once placed on a toolbar, right click on it to change the name of the documentation symbol it represents. Left click on the icon to add the documentation symbol to the design.
The Parts category contains a list of commonly used simulation part icons that you can drag onto a Schematic toolbar. Once placed on a toolbar, right click on it to change the name of the part it represents. Left click on the icon to add the part to the schematic design.
The Tool Palettes category contains a list of commands that represent schematic popup toolbars that contain a list of parts are commonly used when creating a design for simulation. These popup bars can be dragged and placed on toolbars in a schematics design. Once placed you can right click on the tool icon to change the popup bar name. If you left click to pop up the bar it shows icons for a list of schematic parts. Left click on a part icon to add that part to the design. Right click on a part icon if you want to change the part name that the icon represents.
The User Tools category contains a list of external tools that you have defined using the Tools tab of the customise dialog. If you have not defined any user tools then this menu option is not available. See the next section for details on adding user tools.
The Users Components category contains a list of part command icons that you can drag onto a PCB or Schematic toolbar. Once placed on a toolbar, right click on it to change the name of the part it represents. Left click on the icon to add the part to the design.
The Users Popups category contains a list of commands that represent popup toolbars that can contain a list of your chosen command icons. These popup bars can be dragged and placed on toolbars in a design. Once placed you can right click on the tool icon to change the popup bar name that is shown on the toolbar. To add your commands to the toolbar you have to enter Customise whilst the popup toolbar is displayed. To do this exit Customise, left click on the new popup toolbar icon that you have placed on a design toolbar, and right click on the toolbar header. A menu will be displayed with Customise at the bottom. Be careful to select Customise from the menu without leaving the menu with your cursor. This way Customise is entered with your popup toolbar still displayed and you can drag your required commands on to it.
New Menu enables you to create a new menu rather than a new toolbar. Commands dropped onto this will appear as a menu item.
Once added, right click on the New Menu words on the menu and edit the menu name in Button Appearance.
The All Commands item is listed at the bottom of the Categories list and will show all commands in all categories.
Commands
A selected command may be dragged, by pressing and holding down the left-hand mouse button, and dropped on to any visible toolbar or menu. Dragging the command over a menu bar item will cause the corresponding menu to drop down allowing the command to be placed within that menu. The same command may be placed on more than one toolbar or menu.
Filter
Use the Filter to find command names which contain a given string, or are only available within the Context of a given design type. Note that the filter will be applied within the currently selected Category.
Description
Selecting a command will display a description of it’s function, this will help you identify it.
