This dialog is used when when you are importing Schematic designs from OrCAD. It enables you to change the default name that you want the imported design to be called. You can also choose to use a technology file to base the design upon.
Design This will be the filename used when you save the design.
Technology This drop down list can be used to choose a technology file to base the imported design on. You may wish to use one to add pre-defined styles and names to the imported design. You do not have to use a technology file if you do not wish to, it is optional. Select [None] to specify no technology to be used.
Combined Property Part Names
When an OrCAD schematic is imported, it will use whatever Part name has been created in the (OrCAD) design. this happens during the Netlist Packaging process that OrCAD uses. If there is a matching Allegro PCB design, this may have a different Part name. During an ECO compare in the Allegro environment, the two designs match because Allegro PCB knows the Part name in the OrCAD Schematic, it understands how the name is derived for PCB using a combination of property names.
However, once both designs are translated into Pulsonix, Pulsonix now does not know this Part Name combination and will flag errors during Synchronise Designs.
To avoid this situation, you can check the Combined Property Part Names box to then supply the Property Names. During Import, this will rename the Parts in the Pulsonix Schematic to match the Allegro PCB.
The notation for this entry will be obvious if you are using Allegro PCB as it is a derived property name with all property fields appearing in the associated OrCAD Schematic. Each property name should be enclosed in curly brackets and in the order that you require. If the combined name is greater than 31 characters it will be truncated.
A typical format for the Combined Property Part Name entry for the new Part Name might look like this (in this instance, the underscore character is used within the Allegro PCB to format the Part Name):
{Source Package}_{
Note: if you do not choose to use the Combined Property Part Name option, your designs may not be in synchronise with each other. In this case, use the Synchronise Designs options to bring the two designs (SCM and PCB) in-line.
Auto Weld Connections
Sometimes when connections are imported they do not always exactly start or end at an appropriate connect point. Check Auto Weld Connections to try and force them to start or end on a connect point.
